Would You Rather for couples
A Would You Rather question is only worth asking if you cannot answer it immediately. These are written so both options cost you something, which is what turns a two-second choice into a twenty-minute conversation.

Most Would You Rather lists have an obvious answer. Nobody agonises over whether they would rather have a million pounds or a paper cut. The question is over before it starts.
The ones here are built so that whichever option you pick, you are giving something up. Being understood completely by one person, or liked easily by almost everyone. Knowing exactly how long every friendship will last, or never knowing but keeping each one longer.
You will pick fast and then spend five minutes explaining why, which is the point. The answer is not interesting; the reasoning is.
Playing it as a couple
Both of you answer every card. Choose privately first — the app lets you each commit before either answer is shown — because seeing your partner pick first genuinely changes what you would have said.
Then defend it. The rule that makes this work is that you have to argue for your choice even when you are not sure. Committing to a position you half believe is how you find out what you actually think.
Disagreeing is not a bad sign. Two people who answer identically to everything are usually not being honest with each other, or have stopped noticing where they differ.
When to play
This one travels well. It needs no props, no turn order and no privacy, so it works on a long drive, in a waiting room, or across a table where you can be overheard without consequence.
It also works on a video call. Share the link and you both get the same cards in the same order.
Ten cards is usually the right length. Would You Rather is unusual in that the game is entirely in the discussion, so a short deck with proper arguments beats a long one skimmed. Stop while you are still disagreeing about the last one.

Play Would You RatherCommon questions
What makes a good Would You Rather question?
Both options have to be genuinely competitive. If one is clearly better the card is dead. The gold standard is a question that starts an argument between two people who normally agree.
Should we answer at the same time?
Yes. Choose privately, then reveal together. Hearing your partner answer first quietly changes your own answer, and you lose the most interesting part of the game.
What if we always pick the same option?
Turn the intensity up. The gentler cards are designed to be easy company; the bolder ones force a real trade-off and are where couples start to diverge.
