Pairly Play is a website you can play without an account. There is nothing to sign up for, and we do not ask for your name, your email or anything about you.

Your game — which questions you have seen, whose turn it is, the names you type for players — is stored in your own browser and is never sent to us. If you clear your browser data, it is gone, and we have no copy.

We use your browser’s local storage, not cookies, for the things that make the game work. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted anywhere.

Nothing that identifies you. There is no account system unless you choose to create one, so there is no profile of you built anywhere.

This site is free and is paid for by advertising, supplied by Google AdSense. Ads are only loaded if you agree to them. If you do, Google and its partners may use cookies to show and measure ads, and may use your approximate location and browsing on this site to make them more relevant. Google explains what it collects at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can turn off personalised advertising for your Google account at adssettings.google.com or across many providers at optout.aboutads.info.

If — and only if — you agree to it, we use Google Analytics to see which pages and games people use. Declining costs you nothing: the site works identically either way. Nothing you type into a game is ever sent, including answers and player names.

To be exact about the timing: Google’s tag file is loaded when the page opens, before you have answered the banner, which means Google sees your IP address as it would for any file your browser fetches. It is loaded in a mode that stores nothing and measures nothing, and we send it no information about your visit unless you agree. If you decline or ignore the banner, it stays inert and is never told you were here.

We use Sentry to be told when the software breaks — a page that fails to load, a payment that does not complete. These reports contain what went wrong and where in the code, never what you were doing: no question text, no answers, no player names, no IP address, and no recording of your screen. They are kept for 90 days. This one is not optional, because a site that cannot detect its own faults cannot fix them, and there is nothing personal in it to opt out of.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — the kind every website generates — which include IP addresses and are used to keep the site running and to investigate abuse. We do not use them to build a picture of you.

We set no cookies at all unless you agree. If you do, Google Analytics sets cookies to tell repeat visits apart, and Google AdSense sets cookies to choose and measure the ads that keep the games free. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, none of them are set.

You can change your mind by clearing site data for this domain, which resets the choice and removes anything stored.

Pairly Play is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone. Some questions are written for adults; the intensity setting exists so you can keep a session gentle.

Because we do not hold personal data about you, there is generally nothing for us to give you a copy of or delete. You can remove everything this site has stored by clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings.

If you believe we hold something about you and want it removed, email support@pairlyplay.com and we will deal with it. If you are in the UK or EU you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

When this policy changes we will update the date at the top. If a change means we start collecting something we did not collect before, we will say so plainly rather than quietly editing a paragraph.
